Turning Point Florida
Florida turned into ground zero for conservative voices over the weekend
TAMPA, Fla. — Florida was the center point for all things Republican this weekend, with the Republican Party of Florida holding its Sunshine Summit at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino near Hollywood and Turning Point USA, an organization for conservative youth and young adults, gathering in Tampa.
Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke at Turning Point USA’s 8th annual Student Action Summit on Friday and was the headliner at the Sunshine Summit on Saturday. Meanwhile, President Trump headlined Saturday’s festivities back in Tampa.
Part I — Tampa
DeSantis entered the stage on Friday to a rock star greeting. It was met with quite the delight by conservatives, both in attendance and on social media.
Of course, the left couldn’t stand it:
And of course, Nikki Fried had to tweet about DeSantis…because she literally can’t go a day without DeSantis in her tweets (not sure how rent has anything to do with this considering the State of Florida had nothing to do with paying for this…the City of Tampa actually made a whole bunch of money from this event):
In fact, she tweeted about him twice (I swear, she probably owns DeSantis pajamas):
Speaking of Fried, she tweeted about the presence of a Nazi flag waving group which also was shouting support for DeSantis…which then caused the left to go ballistic about it…because if some clown group of random individuals allegedly supports DeSantis then DeSantis must be in alignment with them and if DeSantis doesn’t immediately denounce the clown group then DeSantis must support Nazis. This is the type of logic from the left. Yet if there are pedophiles who work at Disney who are arrested in a sting operation, does DeSantis jump on Twitter and demand Fried to denounce pedophiles working at Disney? At this point, it should be a given that we all denounce the Nazi flag and anyone waving the flag and any group who supports that type of ideology. Anyways, here are some tweets and articles about it:
This Creative Loafing journo posted this one…
which prompted Fried to post this:
and then ol’ Nikki again…
and again…
And of course, the Florida media…
Turning Point USA condemned the event…
As did Sen. Rick Scott:
As did Sen. Marco Rubio…
And Nikki one more time…
Taylor Hansen, an independent journalist who provides reporting for Next News Network, painted a clearer picture of what the group allegedly could be:
Aldo Buttazzoni, another independent journalist, provided more insight:
In closing (because I’m apparently running out of space for this newsletter…I’ll do a Part II to this weekend’s event), here are some memorable videos of “peaceful protestors” from outside the Tampa Convention Center:

Great job on these newsletters!
