TAMPA, Fla. — What seemed like a long, drawn out summer quickly got ramped up, first with the conservative conventions here in Tampa and down in south Florida and now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers opening training camp. Today’s newsletter is gonna be a lot more headlines but stay tuned later this week for a few different feature articles — one of my scathing admonishment of a radio show called iHeartRadio Communities hosted by WFLA’s Ryan Gorman that features several pediatricians who recommend the Covid vaccine for kids, an analysis on the District 13 primary congressional candidates and another on former St. Petersburg mayor Bill Foster’s monumental policy decision about the homeless back in 2010.
Until then, here are Wednesday’s headlines:
Robert Barnes and Alex Jones believe a Trump-DeSantis pact has already been arranged. According to Barnes, Trump is just waiting until after the November elections to announce it so DeSantis can secure the governorship. The two discussed it on Jones’ podcast.
That being said, GOP insiders believe DeSantis has a solid chance of beating Trump in a primary.
Turning Point USA issues cease and desist letter to ABC for “defamatory statements” on The View — Oprah Winfrey basically lied and first said the clowns posing as Nazi members were inside the building as a part of the Turning Point USA festivities and then issued a clarification and it was “like they were invited.” Check out the videos here and the subsequent thread on Twitter:
Speaking of the endorsements, he tweeted this list (there wasn’t an endorsement for Pinellas County or Hillsborough so I will have to ask him if he endorses anyone in the Tampa Bay region):
Florida’s ‘Open for Business’ stance is appealing, so says New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz
Tampa General Hospital is number one in the region and is nationally ranked in several categories
The Bucs reported for training camp on Tuesday, practice begins Wednesday, pads later in the week
The Rays lose Kevin Kiermaier and Mike Zunino for the rest of the season
Kids eat free at the Trop from now until the end of August for all Rays’ home games.
Rowdies acquire Tampa-based training facility
In closing….The GOAT looks like he’s more ready for his modeling career to start and not another season of getting chased down by behemoth linemen like Aaron Donald:
